How much does epoxy garage flooring cost in Hervey Bay?
Epoxy flooring is priced on square meterage and how much work the slab needs first, so we measure and quote on site.
A clean, flat, near-new slab costs less to do than one with cracks, oil stains, old paint or a pitted surface, because the prep is where the hours go. Give us the rough size of the garage and a photo of the floor and we’ll get you a fixed price.
How long does an epoxy garage floor take?
Most standard double garages are a two to three day job on site.
Day one is diamond grinding and crack repair, then the coats go down over the following days with cure time between them. You can usually walk on it after about 24 hours, but leave it around a week before you park a car on it or drag anything heavy across it. Heat and humidity change those numbers, so we’ll give you the real ones for your job.
Will epoxy peel or lift off my concrete?
Only if the prep was wrong. Coatings don’t fail because the epoxy was cheap — they fail because they were rolled onto a slab that was never opened up properly.
We diamond grind every floor back to clean, sound concrete so the coating has a mechanical key to bond into. We don’t acid etch and we don’t go over the top of someone else’s failing paint job without taking it off first.
Can you epoxy a garage floor that’s already painted or sealed?
Yes, but the old coating has to come off first.
We grind the existing paint or sealer back, deal with whatever’s underneath it, then start again. It adds time to the job, so it’s worth mentioning when you ring so the quote is right the first time.
Is epoxy flooring slippery when wet?
A smooth gloss floor can be, which is why we don’t use one everywhere.
Flake systems already have texture in them, and for outdoor areas, patios, pool surrounds and anywhere that gets hosed down we broadcast a finer aggregate into the topcoat to lift the grip. Tell us how the area gets used and we’ll match the finish to it.
Can epoxy go outside on a patio?
Yes — patios, alfresco areas and paths all take a coating, provided the topcoat is UV stable.
Standard epoxy chalks and yellows in Queensland sun, so outdoor work gets a UV-stable topcoat over the top. That’s the difference between a patio that still looks right in five years and one that goes patchy in two.
